The
Parkland Woman's Club was founded in 1986 and was federated in 1987.
The objective of this Club shall include educational, literary, and
civic improvements to be accomplished in a charitable manner. Our
colors
are Pink and Blue, our Bird is the
Blue Heron and our Flower is the Hibiscus

are held the third Thursday of each month
Board
Meetings
are held the second Thursday of each month.
Our
club is affiliated with the General
Federation of Women's Club (GFWC). The
largest organization of volunteer women in the world. Our national
headquarters is located in Washington, D.C.
The
General Federation was founded in 1890, with the motto of "Unity in
Diversity". This group of women has grown into the largest
organization of volunteer women in the world with more then one million
members worldwide in 20 countries.
GFWC
was instrumental in establishing most of the nation's libraries and
helped to pass the Pure Food and Drug Act and the first child labor
laws.
The
largest and oldest non denominational, nonpartisan, international
service organization of volunteer women in the world.
GFWC is
responsible for the establishment of 75% of America's more than 14,000
public libraries.
Our Club is also
affiliated with the
Florida
Federation of Women's Clubs (FFWC). In
addition to the GFWC international membership, you will also be a member
of our state federation, Florida Federation of Women's Clubs of FFWC.
Our state headquarters are located in Lakeland, Florida. The president
of FFWC and the executive committee members oversee the operation of our
state federation. Our membership is approximately 20,000. FFWC celebrated its centenial in 1995, having been organized in 1895 in Cove Springs, Florida. FFWC was one of the first organizations to become involved in the preservation of the Everglades and to help establish Royal Palm State Park. In 1972, the Florida Federation built the first home at Hacienda Girls Ranch in Melbourne. The ranch currently is home to up to 35 girls in three houses and has a large group meeting and learning facility. Hacienda Girls Ranch is the only continuing project of FFWC.
GFWC FLORIDA FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S CLUBS"Unity in Diversity" DISTRICTS The GFWC Florida Federation is divided into (14) Districts. Each district is led by a district director. The purpose of the district is to promote the federation and to provide a link between the local club and the state federation. Each district holds its annual meeting in the fall and an arts and crafts festival in the spring. Several district workshops are also held covering such topics as leadership, grant writing, personal finance, parliamentary procedure and federation projects.
DISTRICT/COUNTIES Our club is in Disctrict 13 (Broward County). This District has one annual meeting in October when they host officers for our state federation.
In
February, the District has an art festival and all members are invited
to submit their arts and crafts work for competition. In the spring, the District holds a workshop for new club officers and department chairs to familiarize them with the workshops of the organization and the District. If you would like additional information please contact us.
